Not to mention, like bro, can you control your anger issues? I mean, seriously. It’s crazy how much actually seeing inside someone’s head can change your opinion of them (the character I mean). I mean, do I have to say anything else? Adam went (for me) from being a slightly controlling but interesting love interest for Juliette to a controlling, chauvinistic, asshole. This review will be lots of pictures and GIFs. including killing everyone Adam has ever cared about. The Reestablishment can’t tolerate a rebellion, and they’ll do anything to crush the resistance. On the battlefield, it seems like the odds are in their favor-but taking down Warner, Adam’s newly discovered half brother, won’t be that easy. And just as Adam begins to wonder if this life is really for him, the alarms sound. He’s reeling from his breakup with Juliette, scared for his best friend’s life, and as concerned as ever for his brother James’s safety. Set during and soon after the final moments of Unravel Me, Fracture Me is told from Adam’s perspective.Īs Omega Point prepares to launch an all-out assault on The Reestablishment soldiers stationed in Sector 45, Adam’s focus couldn’t be further from the upcoming battle. I couldn’t tell you why my opinion changed, but it happened, and I think that reading this novella was essential to my liking this series.ĭiscover the fate of the Omega Point rebels as they go up against The Reestablishment. And he was still that in the novella, and I don’t know what made me change my opinion, but I found myself hoping he would track down Juliette and beat the crap out of Adam. He seemed, to be honest, like a psychopathic obsessive stalker with way too much power for his own good. In the first book I honestly could not figure out why anyone would root for Warner. Like I said, I wasn’t sure about the first book and reading part of it from Warner’s perspective not only made me enjoy the story more but totally changed my outlook on Warner’s character. I usually can’t stand when a book is just a retelling of the same story from a different perspective, but in this case it really worked for me. The entire novella is from Warner’s perspective, and I am still convinced that had the first book been told from Warner’s perspective it would have been far more interesting. However, after reading this novella I was hooked. The first book was okay but it wasn’t as obsess-worthy as I had heard from the hype. Set after Shatter Me and before its forthcoming sequel, Unravel Me, Destroy Me is a novella told from the perspective of Warner, the ruthless leader of Sector 45.Īfter I read the first book, I wasn’t sure I wanted to continue on with the series. But when Warner’s father, The Supreme Commander of The Reestablishment, arrives to correct his son’s mistakes, it’s clear that he has much different plans for Juliette. Still as obsessed with Juliette as ever, his first priority is to find her, bring her back, and dispose of Adam and Kenji, the two traitors who helped her escape. ![]() But as she’ll learn in Destroy Me, Warner is not that easy to get rid of.īack at the base and recovering from his near-fatal wound, Warner must do everything in his power to keep his soldiers in check and suppress any mention of a rebellion in the sector. In Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me, Juliette escaped from The Reestablishment by seducing Warner-and then putting a bullet in his shoulder. Goodreads Description Goodreads Review and Updates Therefore, if you haven’t read the first book, do NOT read this review. I will give the content warning I always give for my reviews: This will be spoiler free for the novellas, but you can expect that this WILL spoil the first book of the series (as well as very minor spoilers for book two), Shatter Me. I gave Destroy Me 5 stars and Fracture Me 3 stars, for an average of 4 stars overall. This novel contains two novellas, Destroy Me and Fracture Me. So as part of my buddy read with Chandler and Sabrien, we read the rest of the Shatter Me series this month (not including Restore Me).
